Another Cosmos . . .

I had a little time, between Doctors appts, family time, and bed that I could spend doodle - ing in my art journal.  I was thinking of the theme word for Creative Every Day and created this doodle.  (I wish I was creative every day but alas, I am very proud of myself  if I can get in some free flow creative time once a week.  LOL)

I was dreaming of spring of course, as we are thigh deep in snow, and I remembered another Cosmos.  One of my favorite flowers are Cosmos . . .

Here are a few pictures of last years.  (can you find the little spider??)

Aren't they lovely??  I was never an avid gardener but now that I have the space, it is fun to grow different flowers than Tiger lillies and marigolds.  I can't wait for planting time, I am so tired of the cold.  We are getting hit with another cold spell.  All the lows are well below freezing, and some predicted are minus 2 and 3 degrees.  BRRRRRRRRR

The Book? Lets not forget the book!!!

I am really enjoying reading the Blogging for Bliss book.  I have found it to be written in laymans terms to make it very easy to understand.  In the first few chanpters, Tara talks about what blogging is, and also shares some bloggers with the readers.  I found both of these to appealing to my life . . .

I have followed Heather's blog for a few years now, as she is the editor to Flea Market Style magazine.  The magazine is a favorite of mine and I pick one up everytime a new one is available.

Alicia is a real person, writing from a real place in the world.  I was introduced to this blogger via the book and have found her writing to be heart warming.

Alicia has a book published, that if you are a stitcher, you would enjoy.

I have been really busy this week, trying to get back into the swing of things.  Work continues . . .and I continue.

Oh, when I sit down, I am still working on the baby blanket.  Here is the picture I promised . . .

Time to go . . .lots to do!

A Year of Dreams

A Year of Dreams

A song in my heart
A drawing in my hand

For this drawing I wrote:

Each day begins with a dream
and follows the rainbow
Ending with my authentic self

Learning How to Blog!

The current book I am reading is Blogging for Bliss- Crafting your own online journal.  The following is the product description:

Today’s crafting community is online, connected, and blissfully blogging about their work and ideas. Blogging is hot in this highly creative world—and here is the only how-to book aimed directly at them. Everyone from knitters and beaders to scrapbookers and altered artists will find the practical information and visual inspiration they need to create an artful online journal.
Thanks to hundreds of gorgeous screen grabs from the very best blogs, a thorough introduction to the tools of the trade, and instructions that virtually take you by the hand, even beginners will swiftly go from blank screen to colorful, enticing pages. Those who already have a blog, but want to enhance their presence on the Web, will learn how to add banners and graphics, take the perfect shots, crop and size photos, establish links, and attract an audience of eager readers.
Best of all, readers will meet some of the Web’s most popular creative bloggers, including Alicia Paulson (Posie Gets Cozy), Gabreial Wyatt (Vintage Indie), Emily Martin (Inside A Black Apple), Lidy Baars (Little French Garden House), Heather Bullard (Vintage Inspired Living), and Serena Thompson and Teri Edwards (The Farm Chicks).

I read the intro, and as I read and learn I will share my feelings about the book.

Until Next Time,

I am choosing a word for the year.  I have followed along with Christine Kane watching her grow, and become the wonderful folk art musician she is.  Christine has a wonderful work book that aids you in choosing your word.

Fear tends to catch me, in the form of many excuses - all of them to protect that which is familiar to and keep me safe.  I have never made the leap and picked a word to guide, and bring along it's energy into my world.  This year I jumped!  LOL

My word is begin (commence): (definitions from the dictionary below)

1. Take the first step or steps in carrying out an action

2. Have a beginning, in a temporal, spatial, or evaluative sense

3. Set in motion, cause to start

4. Start speaking or saying

5. Be the first item or point, constitute the beginning or start, come first in a series

The synonym to Begin is "commence"  This word resonates with me as well.

So here today, I Begin (again - *smile*)

It's not too late for you either . . .click on Christine's name above, visit her website and get her wonderful booklet!   You too can join me on this adventure with a word of the year!

Until Next Time,
Renee
